History of the AAML Southern California Chapter's Family Law Person of the Year
The immediate past president of the Southern California Chapter has the duty of selecting a Family Law Person of the Year, which is presented annually with the "Normie" trophy at the Trial Advocacy Insititute. The selection remains confidential until announced. It is the highest honor bestowed on an individual by the Southern California Chapter and in 2001 was named after Norman Dolin, a Fellow from 2000 until his passing in 2001.

History of the AAML Southern California Chapter's Judicial Officers of the Year
Each year at the Trial Advocacy Institute's Saturday evening social event, a Judge or commissioner in each of the Chapter's three prominent counties is selected as a Judicial officer of the Year. Fellows in each of the counties are responsible for nominating, discussing, and voting for the honor in their counties. The following list is the roll of the selected honorees:

2008 Donations
The Southern California Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyer supports the following organizations:
Levitt & Quinn Family Law Center - This center is devoted to providing attorneys to represent low and moderate income families in family law issues.

The Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law - The center protects victims of domestic violence and improves the well being of children living in poverty. This center also provides free family law assistance and legal education to the poor.

Human Options (Orange Co.). - This is a battered women's shelter founded in 1981. It provides outreach help and runs two housing facilities , provides extensive counseling and helps residents obtain legal help. This is a well run organization dedicated to preserving the sanctity of the family home.

Kids' Turn - San Diego - This is the only program in San Diego County working for te whole family to achieve a child centered and healthy divorce. It provides a low cost solution for families experiencing the pain of divorce or separation no matter how great the conflict.

Center for Community Solutions - Since 1969 this Center has been creating safe and healthy communities with the emphasis on the treatment and prevention of sexual assault and relationship violence. Each year it assists more than 27,000 women, children and men affected by relationship violence and sexual assault.
